80 YEARS OF MOOMIN STORIES

The first Moomin story, The Moomins and the Great Flood, was published 80 years ago. In the story, Moomintroll and Moominmamma search for a new home and Moominpappa, who has gone missing while following Hattifatteners. By the end of the story, the family - grown during their journey - finds their way to the Moominhouse, a tall, beautiful blue house standing in the heart of Moominvalley. This house is full of life, welcoming everyone just as they are, whenever they may arrive.
THE DOOR IS ALWAYS OPEN

In the Moomin stories, the Moominhouse offers shelter, comfort and safety to anyone who seeks it. There is always place to return for Moomins and their friends who set of on an adventure - a place where everyone can feel they belong, a place they can call home.
The Moominhouse is a symbol of security, shelter and a sense of belonging. These are universal and timeless needs, now and 80 years ago. The Moomins' anniversary year carries the theme "the door is always open", reminding us all of what truly matters.
