Snakes have long been feared, and people protected themselves against them with spells and charms, as described in the Kalevala. Especially the viper appears several times on the pages of the Kalevala.

Snakes living in rock crevices were seen as symbols of the underworld, yet vipers were also believed to possess magical healing powers against various illnesses. The snake is a universal symbol of the cycle of life – it can bring forth new life, renew itself by shedding its skin, retreat into hibernation for the winter, and awaken again with the warmth of spring. In addition, the snake is associated with power, protection, fertility, wisdom, and renewal.

Kareline® Natural Fibre Composite: Kupilka's own custom material, made with EKOenergy in Finland. It consists of 50 % sofwood-based fibres from certified forests and 50 % food-grade polyolefins. Total bio-based level of material is 62 %. BPA-free material.

Reindeer leather cord: Reindeer leather is uniquely soft, thin and durable. It is considered to be an ethical option as reindeer live most of their lives free and the leather is obtained as a by-product of food production.
